Tuesday, September 17, 2024 -Three people were killed, and several others injured yesterday when suspected bandits, believed to be affiliated with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), attacked the Njaba Local Government Divisional Police Headquarters in Imo State. This marks the third attack on the Njaba Police Division.
The Imo State Police Command
spokesman, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers
arrived in three Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs). He noted that several items
were recovered from the scene, including one general-purpose machine gun, an
AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles: a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a
Toyota Venza.
Okoye commended the bravery of the
police operatives in repelling the attack. “We are proud of our operatives who
demonstrated exceptional bravery and professionalism in repelling the attack,”
he said. He added that the shootout led to the neutralization of three
attackers, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.

Danjuma, is currently leading an operation to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Okoye emphasized the commitment of the command to ensuring security in the
state, stating, “The Command remains committed to enhancing the state’s
internal security and will continue to take decisive actions against any
threats to public peace.”
