Wednesday, August 14, 2024 –Dangote Refinery has denied fixing the company’s petrol price.
In a statement signed by Anthony Chiejina,
Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, the company said stories that
the price of fuel has been fixed to be sold for N600/litre is false.
“Our attention has been drawn to headlines announcing,
‘Marketers Project N600/litre for Dangote Petrol’.
“We would like to clarify that the
Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not our
business partner yet.
“We have never discussed the price of
Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with them, and they have no mandate or authority to
speak for us, either for good or with hidden transcripts.
“We urge the public to desist from such
speculative announcements.
“We have our official channels through which
we make our views known to our stakeholders.”
Dangote Refinery and
some government agencies have been at loggerheads over the supply of crude oil
to the newly established refinery which could end the importation of fuel in
the country.
Just a few weeks ago, President Bola Ahmed
Tinubu seemed to have intervened in the matter when he directed the Nigerian
National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, to sell crude oil to the refinery in
the local currency.
