2 bandits killed 5 people rescued in Katsina as police thwart bandit attack

 -The Katsina State Police Command has foiled two bandits’ attacks and rescued five kidnapped victims.

The spokesman of the command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, August 26, said two bandits were neutralised during the operation. 

 According to the PPRO, the command received a distress call on Sunday about a bandit attack on Layin Minister Village, Malumfashi LGA of the state. 

“On August 25, 2024, at about 1000 hrs, a distress call was received at the Malumfashi Divisional Police Headquarters about a bandit attack on Layin Minister Village, Malumfashi LGA, kidnapping five (5) people,” the statement read. 

“Upon receipt of the report, operatives were quickly mobilised and dispatched to the scene. On noticing the presence of the police, the hoodlums opened fire on the operatives which they responded gallantly."He said all the kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt as the assailants succumbed to the superior firepower of the operatives and fled the scene with varying degrees of bullet injuries. 

"On the same date, at about 1740 hrs, a distress call was received at Malumfashi Divisional Police Headquarters that some suspected armed bandits riding on twelve (12) motorcycles, wielding dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically, taking advantage of the downpour, attacked Marabar Kankara village, Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State.

“On receipt of the information, DPO Malumfashi swiftly mobilized security operatives, who rushed to the scene and gallantly engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully foiled the attack.

“In the course of scanning the scene, the bodies of two (2) neutralized suspected armed bandits were recovered, while efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects as an investigation has commenced,” he added.

While commending the exceptional act of valour displayed by the operatives, the state police Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Musa, reiterated the Command’s commitment towards ensuring a better-secured state
