21-year-old man remanded for attempted robbery in Lagos

 -The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 21-year-old, Collins Ibiang, on Monday, for allegedly attempting armed robbery.

He was arraigned at the Chief Magistrate Court, Yaba, before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka.

The defendant was charged with two counts of attempting to commit a felony, to wit armed robbery and breach of peace.

The charges alleged that the defendant tried to rob one Christopher Regina on July 3, 2024, with a wooden gun and a knife.

According to Punch on July 3, 2024, Collins allegedly asked Christopher out on a date, and after the date, they went to a guest house. At the guest house, the defendant reportedly brought out a wooden gun and a knife and tried to rob her.

She was able to escape after kicking the defendant and screaming. Her screaming got the attention of the hotel workers, who came to her rescue and detained the defendant. He was later arrested and taken into police custody.

During questioning, Collins claimed to work as a security guard for the guest house, explaining the presence of the wooden gun.
