Two arrested for murder of driver and two passengers in Jigawawo

Thursday, March 28, 2024 - The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested two members of a robbery gang that killed three persons in BirninKudu Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, made this known to newsmen on Thursday, March 28, 2024, when he paraded suspects arrested for various crimes. 

According to the CP, a group of gunmen robbed a motorcyclist of his bike at Warwade village and after perpetrating the act, the sighted an oncoming vehicle approaching the scene.

Abdullahi said the armed men fired several shots at the vehicle conveying two passengers, killing all the occupants, including the driver and a former M.D of Jigawa State Housing Authority. 

Acting on credible Intelligence, detectives attached to the Command in conjunction with vigilante members, conducted a raid at Dangoli Fulani camp in Kiyawa LGA and arrested two suspects, Bello Usman,20, and Musa Babangida, 18, in connection with the case. 

“On 07/03/2023 at about 1940hrs, a distress call was received by the Divisional Police Officer B/Kudu Division that, group of unknown armed men were sighted along Kiyawa-B/Kudu road, attacked and robbed a motorcyclist of his motorcycle at Warwade village B/kudu LGA, Jigawa state,” the CP stated. 

"While perpetrating the act, there come a motor vehicle approaching their direction, they became irritated thinking that it was security operatives, fired several shots at the incoming vehicle driven by one Alh. Alhassan Garba ‘m’ age 55yrs of B/Kudu alongside one Alh. Abubakar Babangida Mohammed ‘m’ of B/Kudu, former M.D Jigawa state Housing Authority and Shehu Saidu of Yalwan Damai village B/Kudu LGA as a result, all died on the spot, while the bandits fled.

"On 9th March, 2024, acting on this credible Intelligence, cross section of detectives attached to the Command in conjunction with vigilante members, conducted an Intelligence-Led Raid at Dangoli Fulani camp of Kiyawa LGA and arrested two suspects in connection with the case namely; (1) Bello Usman ‘m’ age 20yrs and (2) Musa Babangida ‘m’ age 18yrs all of Kiyawa LGA Jigawa state. 

"As a result of which, the following exhibits were recovered in the premises; two (2) AK 47 riffles, four (4) magazines, sixty eight (68) rounds of life ammunition, one (1) constructed leg chain, eight handsets, one (1) Boxer motorcycle with Reg No. LSR 206 QP, ECOWAS passport belonging to Alh. Mu’azu Abubakar, one potable solar panel, five (5) SIM Cards, eight spare handset batteries, cash sum of two hundred and twenty one thousand five hundred and ten naira (N221,510.00k).

"Investigation further revealed that the recovered arms were used in committing the robbery that claimed the lives of three innocent persons of Birnin Kudu town.

“On interrogation, the suspects confessed that the items recovered belong to the said Alh Mu’azu. Effort to arrest him and other members of the syndicate is on top gear.”
