According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the recovery
was made at about 6:20am on September 27, 2026, following information that
terrorists were moving a large number of suspected rustled cattle through the
area.
The troops launched a pursuit operation and made contact
with the terrorists, who abandoned the cattle and fled into the surrounding
forest.
“The terrorists abandoned the cattle and fled into the
surrounding forest,” the report stated.
The troops moved the recovered cattle to a safe location,
pending identification and verification of their rightful owners.
The recovery came a day after troops of Sector 2, OPEP,
foiled another cattle-rustling attempt at Sabon Layi in Wase LGA and recovered
57 cattle.
The 57 cattle were also moved to a military base pending
identification and handover to their owners.
