Wednesday, September 30, 2026 - Tanzania has removed Nigerian passport holders from its referred visa category, meaning Nigerians travelling to the country will no longer be required to undergo the additional visa referral process.
The change took effect on September 25, 2026, following
amendments published in Government Gazette No. 246 of 2026.
According to Tanzania’s Immigration Services Department,
Nigerian nationals travelling to Tanzania will now follow the country’s
standard visa application process.
Nigerians can apply through Tanzania’s official immigration
online portal or designated entry points without being subjected to the
previous referred visa requirements.
The development was announced by the Tanzania Immigration
Services Department Chief Spokesperson, ACI Paul J. Mselle, who said the change
followed the recently published amendments.
