Tackle insecurity, not bus preaching —Bishop OYEDEPO to the Government

Tuesday, August 4, 2026 -The General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has asked the Federal Government to shift full focus to tackling the country’s security challenges rather than trying to stop preaching in commercial buses.

Oyedepo made the call in reaction to the proposed amendment to the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Act, that would punish individuals found preaching in commercial vehicles.

The cleric wondered why the government is prioritising the issue of bus preaching when insecurity is ravaging the country.

The General Overseer noted that insecurity deserves more attention than religious activities conducted in public transportation.

According to him, the government should direct its energy towards protecting the lives of the Nigerians.

He noted that restoring safety across the country should take precedence over policies targeting religious preaching in buses.

“There are people who cannot sleep in their homes because of insecurity, yet the concern is preaching in buses. That should not be the issue,” the bishop said.
