Tuesday, October 7, 2025 - The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Lagos, has discontinued investigation into a N750 million fraud case involving business woman Ese Cynthia Daniel.
According to Guardian, the decision followed the withdrawal
of the petition by the complainant.
Daniel had earlier been declared wanted by the Nigeria
Police Force for alleged conspiracy and fraud after being reported by one
Temitope Lawanson. She was accused of conspiring and obtaining N750 million by
false pretence, as well as stealing, which led to her being declared wanted.
Daniel said that during police investigation, it was
discovered that the allegations against her were false and that she was a
victim of circumstance, as the petitioner had been informed that one Chike
Agada was solely responsible for the default.
She stated that she was completely absolved of any
wrongdoing and subsequently cleared of the criminal charges levelled against
her. She also said the culprit had been apprehended and made to pay full
restitution to the complainant.
According to her, previous publications declaring her wanted
were also retracted after she was proven not guilty.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, Force CID
Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Aminat Mayegun, confirmed that the case had been
resolved following a withdrawal letter from the petitioner’s lawyer.
“The petitioner wrote a letter that they want to withdraw
the case and it was withdrawn,” Mayegun said.
She, however, denied that the police retracted the
publication declaring Daniel wanted.
